ΛΗΘΗ & ΚΑΤΑΧΝΙΑ live @ Kalidromiou 94

Σάββατο, 5 του Οκτώβρη και όλα φαίνονταν να πηγαίνουν λάθος. Οι αφίσες που κολλήθηκαν τελευταία στιγμή, το ξέχειλο άγχος, το πανό που έφτιαξε η Χ. μπαμ μπαμ χωρίς να γίνει όπως θα ήθελε. Κατα την έκτη απογευματινή αρχισαν να εμφανίζονται οι γνώριμες φάτσες ενω ήδη ο Pale και ο Κ. σκούπιζαν το καταραμένο υπόγειο στον αριθμό 94 ενός δρόμου σε μια κάποια περιοχη.

Ενώ οι ώρες πέρναγαν και εγώ βάραγα τη μια ντάγκλα μετά την άλλη, τα δυο συγκροτήματα έκαναν την εμφάνιση τους και ξεκίνησαν τα sound-check δειλά δειλά. Οι ώρες πέρναγαν βασανιστηκά μέχρι που τελικά κατά την δεκάτη βραδυνή το υπογειάκi ήταν σχεδόν ασφυκτικά γεμάτο - εγώ ανέπνεα πάλι κανονικά και ο κύριος "αγχώνομαι όταν" γιάσονας μου έλεγε "στα λεγα γω" - και τι καλύτερο από ένα γρήγορο μεταλικό τζαζ από την πάτρα. Και τζαζ όχι μουσικό αλλα εγκεφαλικό, γιατί τα άτομα είναι τελείως τζαζεμένα στη σκία μιας πόλης νεκρής.

Ναι, οι ΛΗΘΗ αυτό που κανουν είναι να σε τραβάνε απ' τον αργο νυσταλέο λήθαργο που έχεις καταλήξει αν ζεις σε μια βρωμόπολη και μισείς τα πάντα γυρω σου. Με κάτι στίχους απο τα πιο νοσύρα όνειρα του Tim Burton (και τίτλους τραγουδιών όπως ΨΩΡΑΛΕΑ ΔΥΣΑΝΘΡΩΠΙΛΑ, τι σκέφτονται τα άτομα άραγες????), “Είδα τον Έρεβο μέσα σου άθρωπε / Κάτ'απ'το προσωπείο της συνήθειας / Είδα τη μοίρα που ήξερες άθρωπε / Ένα βασίλειο δυστυχίας, πλανεμένης λογικής”. Οι επιρροές απο Sludge και Doom ηταν εμφανης και μάλλον παιζει ρόλο και οι ενασχόληση των παιδιών με διάφορες τέτοιες μπαντες. Άρα, έχουμε και λέμε, κάργα μεταλλικό ΚΡΑΣΤ που έδειξε να τρελαίνει τον κοσμάκη – και τρελαινει εμένα όποτε ακουώ το lp σπίτι μου, αναμένω την επίσημη κυκλοφορία - αν κρίνω σωστά απ΄τα χαμόγελα στο τέλος του σετ. Να μη ξεχάσω την υπερτέλεια διασκευή στο Conflicting ideas των Tragedy...

Πάμε τώρα στο ζουμί. Είμαι σίγουρος πως οι περισσότεροι είχαν ακούσει δίπλα στο όνομα Καταχνιά αυτό των Επιθανάτιος Ρόγχος και δεν έπεσαν έξω. Λοιπόν, θα τολμήσω να πω, πως η ΚΑΤΑΧΝΙΑ είναι όνομα και πράμα. Μαυρη μαυρίλα (πλάκωσε, μαύρη σα καλιακούδα) και σίγουρα η καινούρια αγαπημένη μου μπάντα. Δυνατό, γρήγορο drum beat με τέρμα καθαρό μπασσο οδοστρωτήρα, μια κιθάρα με ένα φαινομενικά μιζερο ανθρωπάκι να εξαπολύει στίχους βουτηγένους στο δηλητήριο σαν ποιητής λίγο πριν την ύστατη πνοή και άλλον έναν κιθαρίστα που ροκαρε συνεχώς γιατι στη τελική στ' αρχίδια του όλα. Αν οι Επιθανάτιοι είχαν ξεκάθαρες επιρροές από αυτό το φαινόμενο του neo-crust, η Καταχνια ειναι σε πιο back to the basics φάση, θυμιζοντάς μου αυτό το τέλειο 90's ελληνικό hardcore / crust αλα ΝΑΥΤΙΑ αλλά εννοείται με τέρμα προσωπικό στυλ. Μεγάλο σετ που σε αντίθεση με άλλες μπαμτες που λες "αντε μεγάλε τέλειωνε", στην προκειμένη έλεγες “δε χορταινω, γαμω το σπίτι μου”. Πέριμένω σαν διψασμένος το LP τους που είναι σχεδόν έτοιμο και ξεκάθαρα δηλώνω : μη χάσετε live αυτή τη μπάντα για κανέναν λόγο του κόσμου...

Τέλος βραδυάς με ταμείο, μάζεμα κουτακίων, χαμόγελα μέχρι τα αυτιά για ακόμα μια Live-αρα που είδαμε και πήραμε μέρος. Εγώ τέλος, δε μπορώ να μην ευχαριστήσω τους ΛΗΘΗ και ΚΑΤΑΧΝΙΑ που ήρθαν και γάμησαν τ'αυτιά μας, την ηρώ, τον βας, τον γιάσονα, τον ζορζ, τον γερβόα, την Χ. τον σκαλκρασερ όπως επίσης και τους υπογειώτες του 94 που μας αγκάλιασαν και βοήθησαν στα δύσκολα να γίνει το live, όλες οι φωτογραφιες απο τον μέγα Nick Pale.... ΑΑΑΑΑΑ και να μη ξεχαστώ, εγώ θα ξαναδω ΚΑΤΑΧΝΙΑ το σάββατο, γατάκια...

Boktorva SS - gig report

Date and time have been arranged. Pack my things like a lunatic and catch-up the subway. My driver and dear companion through the next two days d-beat odyssey, d-bill has been late so i got the chance and enjoyed a cold coffee. As we finally hit the road listening to some old good Pink's tunes (u & ur hand etc) i couldn't imagine what i will go through the next hours but time were our ally...

Arriving on the university of patra was a pain in the ass but finally we did it, even if we have not seen the first two bands. My Turn were on stage and played really rad. Short songs, nice black flag's riffs with a positive feedback, so i didn't miss the chance to do some backing vocals on "can't tell no-one" cover. Deathbed who?

Now, let's get to the point. Seeing some familiar faces going in the first line for the upcoming war i fueled my throat with some stinking fix beer and got my place στα χαρακωματα του βουκολικου πολεμου.
The four horsemen of the crustcore apocalypse occupied stage with their axes well sharpen. Wearing wigs, they started to slaughter our ears and the only words that can describe the feelings brings in my mind the bay-area thrash of '80s : "On through the mist and the madness, We are trying to get the message to you. Metal Militia. Metal Militia.". Soon enough, we - the fans(lol) -  hit the stage and every-single-one member of the band was upon our backs, we lift them again and again while guitar solos and drum blast-beats hit back on us like tornados. We tried to lift also the drummer up but the only think we managed was to destroy his drumkit, while he was trying to play his hi-hat with his body turned upside-down. A masked-man attacked midas on his guitar solo number 1342516278115, hitting him hard on his stomach. He only made his solos be meaner and eviler. Agathocles and Extreme noise terror covers just made the pain lust (and last) longer. The band was tight as good as a pair of denim jeans on Lemmy's legs. I have to admit that my vocals on cripple commander were shit mainly to the admire i have to the bassist of the band - known as Machete - so i lost my words, shit happens. Great gig and great people.
Conclusion : First gig for such a great band in twelve years, and propably we'll have to wait another twelve to see them again. Support the band, drink whiskey.

Antimob, Uptight bastard, Black trinity, Go filth go - Live review

As i said in the previous post i was for three days in thessaloniki, and the main reason was to see antimob and uptight bastard(s) to destroy some serious live stages...
So, i packed my good friend ig. at my backbag and we started for this journey (through the dark). Thesal was a so called "igloo" or freezer with temperatures go down at zero celcious...
But, on saturday night some sweat was running around viologiko's stage...
As an "opening act' we saw black trinity (i'll post their first album tomorrow i think), a well-played old-school black metal wind surrounded us as long as black trinity was hitting the stage.. Fast "transylvanian hunger" parts alongside mid-paced katsa (or kaca) crust parts to explode our fucking minds... they played also a cover of bathory's "sacrifice"... No bullshit black metal attitude...
After that, my new personal favourite band antimob was ready to unleash the(ir) fury...
D-bill (yeah, right.. this blog's favourite man and vinyl judger also) took-off his shirt as always and i knew that a blast will come out the speakers... Manic drum hitting monster gave the leads to his other comrades... Old-school dog Stathis was vomiting his lungs out and the crowd started the erotic shaking... the sound was not so good with the guitars to be a little bit fuzzy but you can't have all the pie in this life... Drop virus has been also solid in his bass lines... they played also a cover of bathory's "sacrifice"... HEHEHE... coincidence?
Highlight : the drunken crush of the guitarist and respective owner of mountza fanzine(the love-handled drunkard with the beer belly and the guitar is a mountza shareholder, not owner (as he likes to think.HEHEHE... cheers, P.) on d-bill's drumkit... HEHEHe...
Third in the row was (or were) Uptight bastard that by far was the best band of that night...
Totally drunk and speedy as hell managed to perform the ultimate live experience...
A tone of beer cans has been on their way to the band for at least 45 minutes and their bassist (well-known as president) fought all the time with the crowd, his ass was one fire (no-kidding) twice and drop virus painted him with a satanist cross on his head. and a lot of 666 on his body, hehehe... Their monolithic d-beat alongside crusty rock'n'roll made the work perfect and the crowd never stopped moshing, poging, and all the ings...
Last on the "bill" was DISCLOSE (or just their clones that will release an official cassete instead of vinyl... (oc)cult....)of greece (or kotzi city, tzapan), GO filth go that played almost an hour all the crazy noisy raw punk tunes of Closecore... They also played a cover of the best disclose track "once the war started" ...
g.f.g is the same band with black trinity except the drummer part (vocalist of terrorismo musical plays drums for them)
Once the gig ended we gathered our excausted bodies to drink some more beers and finally to get some sleep...
What a live concert... Cheers...
