Origin of M - Struggle

Origin of M comes from Hiroshima city, japan and features mr. Guy, the singer of GUDON and Maru, the guitarist of ASPHALT. The band reminds me of the usual burning spirits sound but with more rock'n'roll and metal stuff in it. Tight and steady sound bringing a huge hardcore wall in front of you. Like a speeding kawasaki motorcycle the hiroshima citizens delivers up-speed hardcore punk with a delightful rock touch like Death Side used to mix Iron Maiden with Chaos U.K. The album starts with gunshots and guitar leads. You know the japanese madness, i bet they'll have you jump around like an evil goat, and in case you like to know the cd version released from Straight Up records in 2010. Crime Wave - Savage Reaction

You have been drinking for hours, you driving the rubbish called car a night ride near by sea, you wear your favorite Midnight shirt and your tight pants, Motorhead delivers “On parole” and you wanna puke. Take a deep breath, throw Crime Wave cdr into your stereo and let it work. Here's just a brilliant three chord 12'' ep came out in 2010 from agrowax records (a great label, and Mike who runs it is the guitarist/vocalist of Janitor). Eight songs in less than 16 minutes and the lethal touch by No Talk, PMRC, Janitor and Sore Loser members offering the perfect soundtrack for a Monday morning bank robbery or a well planned stabbing on your boss throat. Some times I think that punk is just a metal chain on your hand and the ability of causing problems and Crime Wave flashes pics like that on my mind. Don't try to understand, just go with the flow “if you know what I mean”...

Padlock - Struggle in red

Padlock is one of today's best japanese hardcore punk bands in the burning spirits style.I think I've read somewhere that they have broken up some months ago(??). Whatever. This is their first release from 2003 entitled "Struggle in Red".
Hardcore riffing with a touch of melody, a vocalist screaming like there is no tomorrow and a snare-backbeat like a trash can , which is also a signature in their other two releases. A great debut from a band that deserves more attention in my humble opinion! Check'em out! Up The Burning Souls!

The kind asshole who their stepfathers called him borja, sent me another great review folks (and save me a huge amount of time) with the promise for another two columns (have you seen the length? alright then...). So, the pride of basque country delivers some aggressive punk / proto hardcore madness and you should take his words for granted as i am right now (these guys sounding like early Chaos UK with a bit of Blitz).

I was surprised that Mike remembered our first conversation. It´s more or less true what he says. But whatever, thinking about Mau Maus and that he didn’t listen to them let me thougt a bit. I am a punk fanatic, I was born for punk and for hardcore. Specially for the aggressive and fast one. I don’t care where this bands comes from or if their lyrics are not 100% political. This is anyway a important point of view, because just singing about anarchy doesn’t make you an anarchist, and being one and talking all the day about it is quite boring. So after so many years listening punk and hardcore and trying to be an anarchist the moment came to talk about
Mau Maus.
I don’t remember the first time I listened to this band. I think it is a lot of years ago and for sure one of my friends from Barcelona who opened to me the fantastic world of European hardcore. Because this is a very important think to say. It is not about fucking countries and nationalism, but the European hardcore (not just the English, but the Italian, the German, the Spanish, the Yugoslavian,…) has become a shadow inside the world of hardcore. When in the 80s in the USA incredible bands started, in Europe there where as well totally brutal amazing hardcore bands. Even much more aggressive and rough, and not slower or something similar. One of this bands is definitely Mau Maus from Sheffield. This is HARDCORE!

Their first seven inch, Society's Rejects, is in my opinion their best. They don’t take fucking prisoners. Two, three, four… what a voice, you feel like a society's reject. A society you don’t want, and which definitely doesn’t wants you. The drummer hits the snare drum like a prisoner the bars of his cell. With hate and doesn’t regret it for a single moment because he wants to get through. Yes, that’s it, this single is a fucking hymn for every prison escape, into a society you hate and you want to tear down, nothing has to last, not even a single brick. If you listen to this during you are driving a car, you wanna hit every cop, crush into every bank… If you are still alive when you are listening. Leaders (song number six), the enter into Crisis, which starts soft, but the kicks your head. And at the end, when you listen the Oath, you´ll remember a band called like this and you will think that Mau Maus is hardcore and everything you listened before was just power pop.

The second, No Concern and the third, Facts of War, seven inches don´t miss a bite of the furiousness of the first seven inch. They are just more clean recordings. The aggressive moment when you want break every single of your bones in the library during you are listening to them wont stop. But you´ll do it more carefully, because after the first seven inch you´ll be already in a wheelchair. This is something forgotten, and it must be discovered again, hundreds of punks singing Mau Maus while they assault society, that’s a must, all what I want. They kids will have their say!

Out Cold - Lost Cause 7'' & split with No Side

I met borja a cold and rainy night in an ugly and dirty squat. Blitz were hitting the stereo with “Never Surrender” and I saw a guy with long sideburns and a Wretched tattoo and I told him : “Are you the friend of Roberto, from barcelona?” and he answered me “yes, but i'm from bilbao. You have to listen to the Mau Maus”. I never listened to Mau Maus but I really appreciate Borja and all his crazy talking about free sex and riots. This and the next post will bring you some unpleasant feelings. Borja created a great post about Out Cold and d-bill will continue on the Out Cold topic. The rips are taken without kindly permission from Fugitive equilibrium (the best blog in the whole world), I think marc will have no problem because he really loves Out Cold. Cheers on...

First off all, once upon a time I met Mike. In Athens there are not so many anarchists who listen hardcore in such an obsessed way some of us do. Anyway it came out that both of us love Out Cold. Soo he told me to write something about them /cause he is bored writing all the time most of the things on his blog by himself. I still remember the first time I heard Out Cold. It was in a radio show of a friend of mine. Since then, a couple of years already, I've been looking for every single song of this band. I still find here an there sometimes records I never listen. For me this band is very special, because they played hardcore in a time where no one gave a fucking attention on it. Now hardcore (played in the way of the 80/s) is being played more and more, but sadly the singer of Out Cold is dead. Thank you Mark for this amazing emotions I get when I listen to this amazing band. But anyway, now I wanna write about two of their seven inches which are in my opinion fucking amazing. Ok, all their records are fucking brutal. No fucking way of ignoring this band. If you do it's because you fucking like shit like Ekkaia and your're EMO!!!

Lost Cause 7inch 1994

When a band starts a record with a song called Lost cause, then you know you're listening the right shit. Everything is perfect, the voice like always, hate pure, it's aggressive and I wanna kick the shit out of someone.  The fucking solos of the guitar, in almost every song, punk rock as it is. The drummer hits fast and slow, always beating, not playing. This record is sooo fucking brilliant that I really don't know what to say. You can't describe things like this. My brain is boiling, I wanna go now out of this flat and smash everything with my head. On the B-side Fantasy won't stand is the first song and it has a slow intro which let you predict nothing good for everyone. Fuckhead is a slower song but not different from every single other song. You wanna scream to everyones face this: FUCKHEAD!!! And finishing this masterpiece of hardcore. Like an animal… I definitely feel like an animal with this and specially after it…really listen to this, buy it, steal it from your best friends, download this whatever… If you don't like it you are a fucking idiot and i'll find you…

Split with No Side 7inch 1999

Starting with No Side from Japan, this band sounds the way Japanese hardcore is. No fucking solos, no fucking Burning Spirit. Like Gauze, but more dirty, more distorted but without becoming noisy. This band reminds me a lot to bands like NK6. It is direct, straight and tight. When you listen to this you hate your friends. Imagine what you'll do with cops and fascists afterwards… And now Out Cold, I have to say one thing first off all. All their songs are fucking brilliant. But the result is always different because of the recording. One of their best seven inches is Planned Accident, because the sound is incredible brutal. Out Cold never played very different but their sounds change on the records and make them be better or not. Here again, a bunch of crazy volunteers ready to jump in a black hole without thinking about the consequences. This sound is simple but great. The voice like always, but the rest of the components play a fucking brutal way of how you can play hardcore. Like a chainsaw. And if you interfere you'll lose your head and this is what you should want when you listen to Out Cold.

The War Goes On - This shitty life

For those who remember Ungdomshuset squat in denmark and the conflict with that shitty christian sect as much as the "evacuation" and the daily riots with the bastard police will may remeber a little poster about Antimob, World burns to death and Love potion concert in copenhagen that had a member of that sect nailed to a dick, so you have to know : the dick belongs to Lasse, this band's guitarist, the same person that claimed a lot of negative comments during the HjerteStop gig in athens some years ago due to his weird jokes. So, The War Goes On includes members from the already mentioned Hjerte Stop and No hope for the kids. And they are too close to No Hope For The Kids as i can judge, nice vocals and lyrics drenched in alcohol and rock n roll. Gutter - Demo 2012 & Interview

It seems that every now and then a great band pop-up outta nowhere in our beloved Athens zofos city. Gutter seems to be the reason to start a new band and deliver some sloppy and menacing hardcore punk, you should try it, it works. Read carefully this interview, you won't become a better pesron but surely you'll appreciate some interesting views from some dedicated and good young lads (and an old one). FC : Ποιοι στο διάολο είναι οι Gutter και πως έχουν δημιουργήσει τόσο τεράστιο hype γύρω απ'το όνομα τους; Ρωτάω κυρίως επειδή συνεχώς ακούω κόσμο να μιλάει για σας και δη να σας βρίζει...
Bak : Αν μας βρίζουν τότε έχουμε εκπληρώσει έναν από τους στόχους που θέσαμε σαν μπάντα, για το hype εσύ φταις με τις βλακείες που γράφεις στα ίντερνετ.

Ι : Φίλε, νομίζω οι ερωτήσεις είναι στοχευμένες. Ξέρω πολύ καλά με ποιους κάνεις παρέα.

St : Οι Gutter είναι απλά μια παρέα ατόμων,που ξεκίνησαν ως 4 και κατέληξαν 5,οι οποίοι γουστάραν να παίξουν 80’s αμερικάνικο hc punk. Έτσι απλά. Όσο για το hype. Hype my ass! Για να μιλήσω και λίγο αμερικάνικα.

FC : Μόλις ολοκληρώσατε την ηχογράφηση του πρώτου demo. Πως πήγε η φάση, είστε ικανοποιημένοι; κάνα ευτράπελο;
Bak : Πήρε λίγο καιρό αλλά βγήκε ικανοποιητικό, βέβαια τώρα είναι και ο Μάνος με δεύτερη κιθάρα που δεν είναι στο demo. Ευτράπελα δεν είχαμε, εκτός ότι τα όργανα μας παρουσίασαν βλάβες (είναι σάπια) και ηχογραφήσαμε με δανεικά.

St : H φάση πήγε μια χαρά. Και ας είναι καλά η Βασιλική και ο Γιώργος που μας βοήθησαν αρκετα με την ηχογράφηση – μιξη – mastering. To μόνο που θα θέλαμε βέβαια να γίνει και δεν έγινε ήταν ότι το demo θέλαμε να το βγάλουμε και σε κασσέτα. Αυτό όμως είδαμε ότι θα μας κόστιζε κάπως παραπάνω και το αφήσαμε. Διανύουμε καιρούς κρίσης βλέπεις.

FC : Πολλές φιλικές συμμετοχές στα φωνητικά καθώς και ένα rivalry σε εξέλιξη. Πως ξεκίνησε αυτή η φάση καθώς  και αν νοιώθετε την καυτή ανάσα των B(A)TTER στον σβέρκο σας;
Bak : Την φάση με τα gang vocals θέλαμε να την κάνουμε εξαρχής, το συναίσθημα του να ουρλιάζεις σε ένα μικρόφωνο με φίλους είναι απλά τέλειο. Οι Batter καλό θα είναι να προσέχουν από εδώ και πέρα...

Vang : Όσο για την καυτή ανάσα των Batter στο σβέρκο μας, έχουμε όλοι αρχίσει να αφήνουμε χαίτη-λασπωτήρα και δε θα παίξει πρόβλημα.

Ι : Φήμες θέλουν τον drummer των batter να αυτοεξορίζεται από την πόλη γιατί δεν άντεξε τις συνέπειες του rivalry, οπότε μπορούμε να βγάλουμε πλέον κάποια συμπεράσματα.

FC : Πόσο εύκολο είναι να δουλεύεις καινούρια κομμάτια με ένα γέροντα με υπέρταση και αυξημένη ουρία; υπήρξαν στιγμές που θα θέλατε απλά να τον τουφεκίσετε;
Bak: Αν εξαιρέσεις τις φάσεις που κάτι τον πιάνει και θέλει να αλλάξει σημεία από κομμάτια που τα παίζουμε για ένα χρόνο,  κατά τα άλλα είναι ότι ακριβώς χρειάζεται αυτή η μπάντα.

FC : Ξεκινήσατε ως κουαρτέτο και τελικά προσθέσατε ακόμα μια κιθάρα που εγώ θεωρώ πως έδεσε καταπληκτικά.  Πως και πήρατε τον Μάνο απτούς Sarabante; Παρότι φαίνεται να μην ταιριάζει στο στυλ σας ανταυτου δείχνει να το διασκεδάζει. Πως τον ξεχωρίζεται απ τον δίδυμο αδερφό του; Φοράει κομποσκοίνια; Κανα τρικ για να καταλαβαίνουμε κ εμείς με ποιον μιλάμε κάθε φορά;
Bak : Πράγματι έδεσε τέλεια με τον Μάνο και χαίρομαι πολύ που είναι μαζί μας, κάτω από το βαρύ crust γιλέκο του κρύβεται μια αγνή hardcore ψυχή χαχα. Δύσκολα τους ξεχωρίζω και εγώ, πρόσφατα όμως πρόσεξα ότι ο Μάνος έχει τρύπα σε εμφανές σημείο όποτε ξεχωρίζουν.

Vang : Ο Μάνος είναι εξαιρετικός τύπος και χάρηκα που γούσταρε και μας πρότεινε ο ίδιος να παίξει μαζί μας. Ο ήχος έχει αλλάξει προς το καλύτερο πιστεύω και μας δίνετε η δυνατότητα να έχουμε πιο πλούσιες συνθέσεις στα έγχορδα. Απαγορεύονται τα crust αρπίσματα χαχα.

Ι : Πάντως μια φόρα που είχε έρθει ο αδερφός του δεν καταλάβαμε τίποτα. Ήταν αρχή και δικαιολογήθηκε ότι δεν θυμόταν τα κομμάτια. Μας το εκμυστηρεύτηκε 3 μήνες αργότερα.

St : Στην αρχή δε σκεφτόμασταν να έχουμε δεύτερη κιθάρα. Ο Μανος ήρθε από μόνος του να μας πει ότι θα γούσταρε να παίξει μαζί μας και αυτό το εκτιμήσαμε πάρα πολύ. Βάλε και το ότι είναι φίλος και βιρτουόζος (χαχα) . Ε, δε μπορώ να πω ότι το σκεφτήκαμε και πολύ. Στη πράξη είδαμε κιόλας, όχι ότι μόνο ταίριαξε, αλλά έδωσε και κάτι πολύ παραπάνω στη μπάντα. Όσο για τις διαφορές με τον αδελφό του. Ο Μάνος απέδειξε ότι είναι και old school τύπος,  ενώ ο αδελφός του επαναπαύθηκε στη σουηδική μαύρη crustila να πούμε!  Τώρα για το πως να τους ξεχωρίζεις φυσιογνωμικά δύσκολο να πω. Πριν 2 χρόνια είχα κάνει προτροπή και στα 2 αδέλφια να φτιάξουμε μια hc μπάντα η οποία δεν έκατσε. Πριν λίγο καιρό βλέπω, τάχα μου, τον αδελφό του τον Βαγγέλη και άρχισα να του πετάω σπόντες που δεν ήθελε να κάνουμε μπάντα παλιά και να του λέω ότι τώρα καλά να πάθει που ο αδερφός του ήρθε με εμάς κλπ κλπ. Και ξαφνικά ακούω ‘’ Ρε Στάθη ο Μάνος είμαι! ’’ . Ε, τότε κατάλαβα ότι η κατάσταση είναι αδιέξοδη! Δε ξέρει κανείς ποτέ με ποιόν μιλάει! Βαγγόλης ή Μανέλης? Who knows!

FC : Στάθης ο αδέκαστος κριτής του hardcore ή John Brannon;
Βak: Ο Brannon ψήνει μπιφτέκια σε φαστφουντάδικο τώρα οπότε σίγουρα ο Στάθης.

Ι: Δεν μπορείς να πεις όχι στον Punk εισαγγελέα


FC : Τι σχέση έχουν οι Gutter με την μεταθανάτιο ζωή;
Bak : ..ότι σχέση έχουν και οι χατ τρικ με το punk.


FC : Σε ποιο απτά κάτωθι θεωρείται ότι βρίσκεστε πιο κοντά και γιατί :
raw power – Screams from the GUTTER
discharge – born to die in the GUTTER
behind enemy lines – GUTTER religion
Bak : Raw Power σίγουρα, αν και τα άλλα δύο μας εκφράζουν επίσης.

Ι : Savatage - Gutter Ballet

St : Θα έλεγα τους Raw Power ασυζητητί και το τραγούδι ‘’Gutter boy´´ από One Way System!


FC : Λίγα λόγια για τους στίχους. Πολύ μαυρίλα ρε παιδάκι μου. Γιατί έτσι; Σε αντίθεση με τη μουσική που κρύβει κάποιους τόνους αισιοδοξίας οι στίχοι είναι αρκετά σκληροί. Όνειρα που ξεθώριασαν στο πέρασμα των χρόνων, καταραμένοι έρωτες ή απλά οι Gutter είναι μια ωδή στο σύγχρονο Negative hardcore;
Βak : Υπάρχουν και αισιόδοξοι στίχοι, είναι πως το αντιλαμβάνεται ο καθένας όμως. Negative hardcore δεν θα το έλεγα, μελαγχολικό με δόσεις μίσους ίσως...

Vang : Οι στίχοι είναι βιωματικοί με τον έναν ή τον άλλο τρόπο. Καθότι μιλάνε για πράγματα που έχουμε βιώσει άμεσα στις  περισσότερες περιπτώσεις. Νομίζω ότι μέσα από αρνητικά συναισθήματα και αντικρίζοντας το αδιέξοδο αυτού του κόσμου βρίσκει κανείς πιο ξεκάθαρα τι είναι αυτό που τον κάνει πραγματικά να θέλει να συνεχίσει να ζει.

St : Νομίζω ότι οι στίχοι που έχουμε γράψει εμπερίεχουν τα πάντα. Από αισιοδοξία μέχρι απαισιοδοξία. Από μελαγχολία μέχρι  χαρά. Από παραίτηση μέχρι επίθεση και οργή. Δεν έχουμε πιστεύω ένα συγκεκριμένο μοτίβο στους στίχους και θεωρώ ότι αυτό είναι και το καλύτερο. 

FC : Σε μια παλιά συνέντευξη ο LG-Petrov των Entombed λέει πως δεν νοείται death metal με πιασαρικα αλά Iron Maiden riffs. Το death metal είναι πόνος και μίσος και όχι χαρούμενες κιθάρες. Κάπως έτσι νομίζω είναι και το hardcore. Τι γνώμη έχετε για μπάντες που προωθούν τον όρο positive hardcore;
Bak : Οι Entombed γίνανε γνωστοί όταν φλωρέψανε τον ήχο τους και βγάζανε μόνο πιασάρικα κομμάτια, αλλά δεν μπορώ παρά να συμφωνήσω με την δήλωση του. Στο hardcore πιστεύω όμως πως υπάρχει χώρος για μελωδικά στοιχεία (Poison Idea, ένα καλό παράδειγμα). Για το positive hardcore δεν έχω να πω κάτι, υπάρχουν μπάντες που έχουν κάτι να πουν και άλλες που απλά αναμασούν κλασσικά θέματα (κατακερματισμένες φιλίες, χαμένους έρωτες κλπ) και γίνονται κουραστικοί.

Vang : Έμενα μου αρέσουν τα πιασάρικα τυροκομικά ριφφάκια και στο punk πάνε γάντι κάποιες φορές, δες Ιαπωνία.. Εντάξει αυτά τα positive/negative hardcore, τα θεωρώ ψυχαναγκαστικά. Ας ροκάρει η μουσική και θα βρεις και εσύ πως νιώθεις και τι σε άγγιξε και τι σιχάθηκες. Εντάξει θετική ενέργεια με το στανιό δεν γίνεται.. χαχα. Αφού η ζωή έχει ups and downs που λένε και οι Εγγλέζοι.


FC : Μιας και πιάσαμε τα Αποφθέγματα  μεγάλων στοχαστών ο Paco ignacio Taibo II αναρωτιέται σε ένα βιβλίο του “Είναι το Λεαντρο ένα όνομα για ξεκωλιάρηδες;”. Οι Gutter πως στέκονται απέναντι σ'αυτο;
Bak: Με έπιασες αδιάβαστο...ρώτα κάτι για τον Darby Crash και θα σου πώ.

I: Σταυροπόδι. 

FC : Τελευταία μετά από μια περίοδο μουσικής ακαμψίας της ελληνικής hardcore / punk σκηνής επιτέλους ξεπηδάν πολύ καλές μπάντες. Conspiracy of denial, Jagernaut, Dirty wombs, Go filth go και τώρα Cut off και Gutter. Που νομίζεται ότι οφείλεται αυτή η μουσική “άνοιξη”;
Bak : Αδράνεια, βαρεμάρα, απόγνωση και ανάγκη για έκφραση είναι νομίζω τα βασικά συστατικά.

Vang : Μου φαίνεται γραφικό να πω πως "το punk αναδύεται σε περιόδους κρίσης" οπότε θα πω απλά πως για να την παλέψεις στα δύσκολα στρέφεσαι σε κάτι συλλογικό και δημιουργικό..

St : Δε πιστεύω ότι υπάρχουν κάποιοι ιδιαίτεροι λόγοι γι’ αυτό. Απλά έγινε και θεωρώ ότι είναι πολύ σημαντικό αυτό το ξεσήκωμα. Εδώ και 2 – 3 χρόνια  γίνεται κάτι το οποίο σε καμία περίπτωση δε βλέπαμε τη περασμένη δεκαετία η οποία ήταν μόνο ζόφος σε αυτό το θέμα. Κάποτε δε μπορούσαμε να βρούμε με ευκολία κάποια μπάντα για να παίξει με μια μπάντα του εξωτερικού ή να για να στηθεί κάποιο live γενικώς . Τώρα μπορείς να κάνεις 2ημερο φεστιβάλ με πληθώρα από μπάντες με σχετική άνεση κιόλας! Πιστεύω απλά ότι αυτό συμβαίνει, γιατί τώρα υπάρχουν πιο πολλά άτομα που έχουν διάθεση και ενέργεια να δημιουργήσουν αντί να κάθονται όπως συνέβαινε τα προηγούμενα χρόνια.


FC : Πόσο δύσκολο είναι να μάθεις στον bak να παίζει μπάσο;
Vang : Νομίζω πως δεν άργησε πολύ και εντάξει τα καταφέρνει.. χαχα

Bak : Είναι πολύ πιο εύκολο από την κιθάρα όποτε δεν πήρε πολύ χρόνο, μου την σπάει όμως που οι υπόλοιποι στην μπάντα μιλάνε με μουσικές ορολογίες χαχα.

St : Έχεις ακούσει ποτέ σολιά στο μπάσο από τον Bak να σου φύγει το κλαπέτο που ομιλείς κιόλας?


FC : Bak ή Sid Vicious;
Vang: Bak, γιατί τον κυνηγάω μόνο για τα τσίπουρα  πριν τις συναυλίες..


FC : Πως βλέπουν οι Gutter to DIY; Τελικά υπάρχει τέτοιο πράγμα και τι στον κόρακα είναι; Να οργανώνεις μόνος σου τις συναυλίες σου η κάτι παραπάνω και γιατί;
Bak: Το diy υπάρχει και θα συνεχίσει να υπάρχει, είναι κάτι που λειτουργεί σε πολλά επίπεδα. Οι συναυλίες είναι μόνο ένα από τα πράγματα που μπορεί κάποιος να κάνει, προσωπικά το αντιλαμβάνομαι σαν μέσο έκφρασης και εναντίωσης στην κενή και
“ασφαλή” mainstream κουλτούρα.
Επίσης, μέσω του να κάνεις πράγματα diy ανακαλύπτεις και τα όρια σου.

Vang: Tο DIY μπορεί να γίνει πράξη σε πολλές πτυχές της ζωής και της καθημερινότητας, βρίσκοντας τρόπους στο να καλυφθούν διαφορές ανάγκες και επιθυμίες ενός ή περισσοτέρων ατόμων παρακάμπτοντας την σύγχρονη καταναλωτική πραγματικότητα όσο αυτό είναι δυνατό..
Βοηθάει στη αυτογνωσία, την αυτοβελτίωση και την συνεργασία μεταξύ των ανθρώπων και χίλια δυο άλλα..
Στεκομενος στο μουσικό μέρος θα συμφωνήσω με το Bak...

i: Δεν ξερω ρε συ τι λένε οι άλλοι, έγω κάτι ενισχυτές κουβαλάω, κάτι ηχεία, κατι καλώδια τραβάμε, καλώδια κολλάμε. Τι να σου πω ?

St: H diy φάση, όπως και το punk που είπα παραπάνω, έχει δυναμώσει τον τελευταίο καιρό. Δε θα πω πολλά. Απλά, τι πιο ωραίο να δημιουργείς συλλογικά με φίλους και διάφορους συντρόφους αυτοργανωμένα και χωρίς επαγγελματίες μεσάζοντες . Είτε αυτό είναι συναυλία, είτε θεατρικό, είτε πάρτυ και πάει λέγοντας. Κουραση υπάρχει και βγαίνει, αλλά ειλικρινά  η συγκεκριμένη κούραση είναι πολύ υποφερτή και γλυκιά επειδή νοιώθεις ότι κάνεις κάτι που αξίζει τον κόπο. Και αυτό το συναίσθημα δε νομίζω ότι βγαίνει σε οποιοδήποτε μαγαζί για παράδειγμα.


FC : Γιατί διασκευές Reagan Youth και Void και όχι D.S.B και Uniform Choice;
Bak: Γιατί μας εκφράζουν περισσότερο στην παρούσα φάση...

Vang: Άσε που δεν είμαστε ούτε Γιαπωνέζοι, ούτε Straight edge.

St: Είναι ή δεν είναι από τις καλύτερες μπάντες που έχουν βγει στο hc punk οι συγκεκριμενοι? Δε νομίζω ότι χρίζει κάποιας ανάλυσης. Οι D.S.B θα κόλλαγαν καλύτερα για Dirty Wombs ή Anti Mob θα έλεγα. Uniform Choice? Χμμ, ωραία θα ήταν! Μη βάζεις ιδέες! Χαχα!


FC : Οι πληροφορίες μου λένε για καινούριο 7'' και περιοδεία στην κολομβια...Άλλα σχέδια για το μέλλον;
Vang: Λάθος σου είπανε οι πληροφορίες σου όχι στην Κολομβία... Πάμε για τρέλες στις Σεϋχέλλες! ΩΩΩ!

St: Υπάρχουν ιδέες για ένα 7'' και ενα split 7'' και λέμε να μπούμε τον Ιούνιο να ηχογραφήσουμε κάμποσα τραγούδια.Μετά από αυτό θα πάμε Tζαμάϊκα σε περιοδεία με Bad Brains και θα παίζουμε τα τραγούδια μας σε dub!


FC : Κλείστε όπως θέλετε...
Bak: Οι Metalica και οι DRI είναι οι χειρότερες μπάντες που έχουν επηρεαστεί από το αμερικάνικο hardcore, ορίστε το είπα! Επιτέλους το έβγαλα από μέσα μου!

Vang: Τραγουδάω κρυφά Hallowed Be Thy Name καραόκε καμιά φορά σπίτι, ήθελα από μικρός να τραγουδήσω σαν το Bruce και τον Βασίλη, με τζίν γιλέκο…  Rock On!

Hammers - 2012 - Vardogr

So, let's say what shit bothers us... Desolation, isolation, misery, stagnation, every-day life and mediocre living. So, guys chill-on : here we have the new Hammers album and this is the ALBUM of the year. I've tried to bring these dudes for some gigs in greece but we never did it and I have to claim responsibility for that. I'll try to convince them (with call-girls and hard drinks) to reconsider it. The new album kicks in with a truly majestic track. Here is the ultimate mixing of passion and delicant d-beat. Where the latest Tragedy lp failed here is where Hammers take advantage of. Short tracks, with viking riffs and titanic vocals. I loved the first 7'' and I pre-ordered the Orogeny lp to help the band, and fuck this album continues where the previous album stopped. Fast parts turns out to great mid-tempo parts that builds a catastrophic atmosphere and then back to raging d-beat with ugly leads and yells. It's good to know that a band you love came back from hiatus like a biting mummy to reincarnate and eat you alive. "A coffin in the shape of a chapel” seems to be the hit but I’ll think you push the play button four more times to understand what the hell hit you. Brad (from ashes rise) did the mix and Jack (World burns to death) did the mastering. Ian Kilmister : “And I'm here to stay, it's gonna be that way, / Don't try to run, don't try to scream, / Believe me, The Hammer's gonna smash your dream “. Yep, the HAMMERS gonna smash your dream. Album of the year. Crust.
