Remiso - demo tape

Remiso is a three piece act based in Malmo, Sweden but guess what: they don't play the typical Malmo crime city hardcore (Harda Tider Copyright). No, Remiso take their influences from the d-beat scandi 90's era plus some good old tech, bear-like german 80s thrash (or at least in my ears). They think they play raw punk but don't tell them they don't, please. They sing brazilian curses and they have swedish dreadlocks so you know if you like to mix your Bathory with some Anti-Cimex you are in the right place. Welle (bassist and vocalist of the band) was kind enough to sent me the link of their demo and i hope he'll sent me for free their upcoming full lenght LP. Also, check out the other band of the chilean guitarist Pato named Maligner who deliver fucking amazing thrash / death. I don't know if Klas (the drummer) has other band-projects but he has dreadlocks so i guess he has. This demo is full of good metallic riffs (as the opening riff of the song Violencia, maybe Slayer????) and two covers on Olho Seco and Ratos de Porao. Good stuff.

Civic Progress // Formaldehyde Junkies // Quick Fix

Holy fuck, earlier yesterday i stunned when i saw Civic Progress demo's artwork on robert's blog and read those fucking words : hardcore punk. Yep, civic progress are hardcore, simple and genius. I downloaded the demo and i was "fuck, this shit is good" (είναι οτι καλυτερο μετα τους Limp Wrist και μάρτυς μου ο θεός αμέσως άρχισα την προπαγάνδα γι'αυτούς, πες Dbill) and the fucking basque cunt sent me the mail about em. Fuck, he's got taste, that's for sure. So, we're gonna do it like we're on fugitive equilibrium. Three bands, five seveninches, one post....Hit it borja :

in Athens everyone knows mike, specially as the godfather of the hardcore punk assholes. this is my last fucking review for his blog and i hope he has the generosity of loading it on the blog. if not, i will force him to live in tositsa street for one week. soon i will be back, soo mike don't fuck with my reviews... :)

CIVIC PROGRESS - two eps

there is a city in the US called St. Louis. i don/t know where the fuck this city is and i don/t care. but from this city there is a band called civic progress and the play hardcore. great raw, aggressive, tight and brutal hardcore. the demo and the first ep (petroleum man) is a call to the arms. when a ep starts with a song called KILL THE PRESIDENT, and the singer saying I WANNA KILL THE PRESIDENT, the you know that hardcore is still alive. that hardcore is not just 4 dudes playing music, but as well a riot. this record is one of the fucking best shit i listened in my life. middle 2000/s hardcore from the states kicking a lot of asses. if this band could be called like a horse, i would call it Total Fury...

FORMALDEHYDE JUNKIES - two eps

when i listen this band the first time i freaked out. after some years i still freak out when i listen to them. the seven inch from Formaldehyde Junkies (are a total wreck) is one of my favorite hardcore records ever made. this is one of these bands, where i don/t give a fuck if the guys are nice, wankers, straight, junkies, proles or retarded. they might arson my home, but after a gig of them and i wouldn't mind. this is kind of band playing such a spastic, frenetic and powerful hardcore that i really don/t mind if they puke all over my record collection. from all the bands in the US which started to play again old school hardcore punk the last years, this is definitely my favorite. not government warning, direct control, wasted time, social circkle... (all fantastic bandssss...) this is gg allin but on a hardcore punk way. and fuck it, that's great

QUICK FIX - 6 track ep (sweden)

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa... six songs in 4 minutes and 30 seconds... THIS IS FUCKING HARDCORE!!!!!!!!! why to play long songs if you could smash your mind in 30 seconds hardcore punx assault. mix furious hardcore like modverat likvidation, crude ss and mob 47 with american hardcore from the 80/s like koro, deep wound, neon christ, wasted youth or ultra-fast shit live the neos (ok, they are from canada) and then kick it.... kick it fast and hard till it fucking breaks!!! sweden was in the 80/s a country where hardcore was made in a brutal way. in finnland they played crazy fantastic hardcore, but sweden was just brutal. the best shit from sweden since i don/t know if quick fix are from there, but this is one of the best hardcore hurricane storms if listened in my live. fast, tight, dirty and frenetic! one of the best bands i have listen to in fucking years...

totally in the spirit of bands like absurd, rappresaglia, no thanks, anti cimex, arroganta agitatorer, asocial, dtal, discard, protes bengt, no security...

Krigshot - Terroristattack Ep

Krigshot started back in 1997 just after a call Jallo Lehto did to Anders Jakobson and asked him to start a new band  in the vein of Mob-47. To have a fully vision on who's who of these gentlemen Jallo have been playing drums for No Security, Disfear and Totalitar, as much as guitar and vocals for Meanwhile, Dischange and Kvoteringen. On the other hand Anders have been the drummer of the mighty Nasum (and as a founding member he also played bass and guitar plus yelling in their early days) and nowadays he destroys drum kits for Coldworker. So the Krigshot duo forced Mieszko (also from Nasum) to join the band so they could rehearse and record for free on his own studio. They recorded in a few hours the "Terroristattack" ep that later released by Sound Pollution records. The previous lines were a good history lesson, but what stands for it's own is the greatness of this little piece of wax. One of the greatest scandi-hardcore releases of the late 90's alongside Skitsystem's "Profithysteri" or Diskonto's "DIYanarchohardcorepunk". Simple to the bone d-beat with catchy as hell riffs and dual angry vocals. I firstly listened to this band some years ago and through their final lp "Till vilket pris..." (that i do not particularly like!) and hopefully some friend turn me on this 7'' which could be easily in some of my favorite cassettes - with the trademark sound of the exact era - with Doom, Battle of disarm, Detestation, Fleas and Lice and Hiatus. svärta och förstörelse...

Terrible feelings - death to everyone (2011)

This is my latest obsession. Terrible feelings comes from Malmo, Sweden and delivers the catchiest punk rock i have heard in ages. I can imagine that they have been in numerous other bands but i don't have a clue. If you see a crustie with lots of patches of Framtid and Death Dust Extcractor and a girl in a Repulsion sweater talking on their new favourite band (it happened to me and a fellow hipster friend in a gig some days ago), then you know this worth a listening.

The guy from Tadpole records hooked up with this from a youtube track and i can't get enough lately. This band creates so beautiful environments, a psych  feeling of loss and defeat played with no distorted guitars and nice rolling drums. The songs could be described as a mix of modern punk rock with power pop. They remind me all the female fronted bands that wrote history in the underground hardcore scene but i think they're gonna be bigger. Masshysteri and Gorilla angreb comes to my mind flerting in a bar full of smoke with The Wipers and The Enstranged. "Death to everyone" is the Japanese release of the two 7'' ("tied up" & "impending doom") and the first demo with better sound quality, released from donuts pop records.The song "Hollow" have THE lyrics : "I punish people round me, i know they care for me". Dark, vein-cutting and punk!

Snifter - action... reaction! 7''

I think the year was '99 or '00. the phone rang and a good friend of mine - and the first person i ever saw with dreadlocks and patches, a very cool thing back in the day - said : "hey, come from my place. I have some 7'' that you might find interesting". Those seveninches was chupacabra's "Tired of talking to shadows" and some noisy mind-blowing shit from an unknown band called Snifter. He played me that stuff and got me so "unprepared". I run to a fellow shop to buy a casseette (i had no cd-recorder back then, guys) and started to record these two glorious 7'' (actually i recorded also jeniger's first 7''. haha - all my gratitude to alex from hibernation who sent me a physical copy of jeniger's "captured" 7'' back then. same era - full of memories). When i got home i played that goddamn tape, first thing, and started headbanging like crazy. Yeah, snifter was a killer band (later i found them in a cd complilation called "swedish hc comp" including great bands such as diskonto and e.n.s).who captures perfectly the late-90's sound of the diy hardcore scene. Actually, when you were young and other kiddos asked you what your favourite music and you keep on answering "hardcore punk" and they stared like the most stupid human beings in the world you propably had to say except Doom and Extreme noise terror also Snifter, "yeah, the sound i like is snifter's chainsaw-guitar".

This 7'' is a trully great example of d-beat heaviness, dual vocals one shouting - one yelling, heavy as hell bass-guitar and an old-school feeling (ακους μητσο?) with good and fancy artwork. On the front-cover you'll get a cop tie-up an activist with the word "action", and on the back-cover you'll get a cop-car full of bullet-holes and the kind word "reaction". Heavy political hardcore from one the most underrated bands of the late 90's. Some songs are on english and some on swedish. Did i mention some Infest influences ? (check an interview from 1997 here and their split with Yuppiecrusher)
The mastering has been made by jocke tack (also Kontrovers, intensity mastering's fame) so you know that the sound is killer.

Everyday madness - Preaching to the converted

From the frozen mountains of sweden comes this piece of insult.
Everyday madness was a band active at the late 90's, coming from the city of lund (although, i think they have some type of connection with malmo).
Here's the one - and only - release of them, from '97.
I must admit that i don't know a fucking thing about this band except that here you can find rodrigo from intensity, satanic surfers and putrid filth conspiracy records.

With the first riff, the band catch you from the neck to make you feel the hardcore energy of the european scene of the late 90's.
Influeced basically from the old-school scene of us hardcore punk this six-persons (five boys - one girl) gang delivers the goods. Maybe not, as straight forward as intensity - I could describe them as intensity's little brother (energetic, but more emotional - not emo) -, but with great riffs, clean and heavy bass lines, mainly fast d-beat drumming with male / female vocals...

I'm not in a talk-talk-talk mood, 'cos i feel a little bit tired (but with three new vinyls in my disk-box. hehehe).
This lp has been recorded, mixed and engineered by Jocke Täck at Dundret Studios in the Swedish town Malmö, October 1996 and released by bad taste records.

I think it's impossible to find it, so...

Yuppiecrusher & Snifter - Split 7''

Here we have a split 7" from sweden (the first (it's the second, what a liar i am...) and probably the last post for the overestimated hardcore / crust scene of sweden - i'm just kidding but it's a little bit overestimated, don't you think?)...
First(ly), we have Yuppiecrusher...90's style mid-paced hardcore (or crust) with a lot of fast parts...
Secondly : SNIFTER is a noisy very fast d-beat crust / core band with the 90's "fresh" air recording (HEHEHE)with political lyrics and double vocals...
A must have split.... enough said i think...

E.T.A.(Epileptic Terror Attack) was a thrashcore band from Umea, Sweden. The band shared one member with ds-13. After disbanding, the members went on to form regulations...
