Rajahtaa - Demo 2006

Yes, yes, yes, finally i have the pleasure to post (maybe) the best hardcore band from greece...
Rajahtaa coming out of kavala, greece (and also share(d) members with Satan's reject, assymetrh apeilh etc)to make you cum around, in circles, etc...
I think you've already get the point about the name (total RATTUS worshippers ("wc rajahtaa")), and some explanations are : "go off", "detonate" or "blow off"...
This demo was recorded around 2006 and hail 4 rajahtaa tracks and SIX COVERS (by bands such as rattus, kaaos, mob-47 etc)... A blistering combination of swedish and finnish hardcore of the mid eighties...
I have to confess a sin, father (D-BILL)... I like the covers much more than the original ones...
With perfect "finnish" vocals, terrific drum parts and steady bass-guitar this north-greek beast creates a musical feast that nothing can or could be compared. Also sing-a-longs works terrific in the whole pack and makes you wanna arrange a secret flat party alongside d-bill and other stupid friends (of him) and drink beers 'till your speakers be damaged and probably die by electrocution... the covers makes the songs sounds like has been written 2 weeks ago and not 25 years... THEIR TRACKS ARE ALSO GREAT...
And as the band wrote in the booklet (if you can say it "booklet") : "this demo was recorded for the love of 80's scandi hardcore"
It's a shame that they no longer exist... R.I.P

Nothing to lose (download)

(P.S. antimob's explanations about their tracks from split with burial. is here)

Hour of the wolverine:
FUCK...i wish this greek (or should i say scandi-bastard?!) jewel was released on vinyl for the whole world to hear and charise!!!

Rajahtaa hail from the finnish colony, Kavala, and totally fucking shred. period.

I'm not jocking, these guys here have put out one of my favourite greek releases and it's a bloody shame that its a cd-r...listening to this raw masterpiece makes you wish you had a DIY record label, just so that you can release it yourself!!

As you may have noticed by reading Mike's review this cd-r consists of six classic suomi punk covers (Terveet Kadet, Destrucktions, Kaaos... to name a few) and a swedish tornado (''stop the slaughter'' by the nordic howling wind called MOB 47), alongside four of their own tunes. Needless to say, the covers are by far played ten times better than the originals (i know this statement might sound blasphemic, but trust me...they are!!!), and their own audio efforts seem even better than the tracks covered...!!! Total punk annihilation...

I'm not going to bust anyones balls any more saying how good this band is...if you don't get it you are stupid...plain and clear!

..don't think the band called it quits. I believe they will get back on their destc(k)tive path once they overcome some pretty ugly obstacles, that have come to their way...

P.S. Polu kaloi kai live, me to menu na periexei ''skonakia'' sta finlandika, kai dunamikes ''e3odous''...me ton ena ek twn tessarwn na koimatai panw ston enisxuth tou mpasou stis 6 ta 3hmerwmata, anagkazontas thn mpanta na stamathsei to kopanhma...punk kai alhteia!!!!

Glasses - Self titled 12''

Recently, i discovered (fucking columbus i am) glasses from germany... After the disband of some terrific bands such as perth express and trainwreck glasses took form...
Strong and heavy still punk(y) with beautiful, angry female vocals...
Some entombed's rocking parts (listen carefully first track) to create their own unique sound and transform it into heavy and solid hardcore punk. Sometimes crusty, sometimes noisy but emotional and energetic at the same time... A band that "takes" you along with the first listening and makes you wanna cut your head from the endless headbanging (i'm still talking bullshit) and scream at four walls.
Not so metallic as the previous bands that members of glasses used to play..
No fucking rip-off
No fucking trend

download

Hour of the wolverine :
I'll admit two things straight from the beginning...firstly a am not that much into metallic hardcore, with the exception of few bands, and secondly a am not that familiar with Glasses, nor their previous bands.

What we have here is a quite venomous attack of dark metallic hardcore, thats indeed leans more towards the crust side of things than the whole modern ''metal hardcore'' trend....then again...this is not crust...crust is raw and ugly (like Disrupt and Framtid). Anyway, there are equal nice atmospheric/melodic guitar lines (i don't mean melodic in the pop-punk way), and rocking riffs, toped with pissed as FUCK female vocals, to the point that i feel like a need a cup of warm tea to soften my throat just by listening to their singer scream her lungs out!! Drums are solid, but the bass isn't high enough (from my point of view..another problem when you fuck with the natural frequencies of the guitar trying to make it sound super heavy, thus taking space from the frequencies of the bass...which is supposed to be..the bassier thing in a band! This leads to a more high -frequency wise- bass and to the triggering of the drums, completely destroying their natural sound. Sorry for the rant, but it's always disturbing to hear these new school productions!!)

This will appeal to fans of Catharsis, and all those bands of the genre, who will probably label this nice band as their new on the favourites list, but then again i listen to Negative Approach and Deathside, so i don't think i'll be listening to this anymore!!

Deathcage - 3 x 7''

After the kindly request for Deathcage from the good internet friend Mr. vengeance is mine aka screams from the gutter, I could not resist my self to say no to him, so I’m posting these “burning spirit” freaks from Australia…
Deathcage constitute 5 ugly individuals from around the globe and to be more specific : sweden, australia and japan (there is no one handsome japanese guy in the whole world i think). They deliver the usual awesome japcore with speedy guitars, full of hellish dog-biting riffs, some new wave of british heavy metal solos alongside thrash technique and fast drum changes... A combination that makes them so fucking tight and heavy…
We can call them “Australia’s burial” ‘cos I can hear major influences from the german wolves mainly in the way that the tracks has been written. Maybe the sound is not so heavy and clear but they are not clones…
Here you get all the three 7’’ that deathcage have released so far. Production differences from one to another make the listening far more fascinating... And they hold the death side flag quite high…
Get them all :
“From despair to where” 2008
“Chaos nightrider” 2009
“Tomorrow we die” 2009

download

Dbill's hour :
As posted by fifteencounts... owner Mike, Deathcage hails from Australia, a country of which we don't get many records to learn more about the scene there...at least not in greece...

To the tunes now, the aussies seem to blast some nice japcore songs with lots of thrashing metal mixed in...I'm liking the drumwork in the records, but unfortunately they sound too much ''Burial'' to me. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to get guidelines and borrow elements from older bands, but i think the result is in this case is too much ''sounding like the new japanese hardcore bands''...

My guess is that if these guys can put some more of their own personality in their music...their next releases will kick our asses harder than a kangaroo's backlash!!!

Never the less, these three 7inchers are worth the listen, with my personal preference being ''Tomorrow we die''.

Disclose - Once the war started 7''

If discharge were from japan would be probably sound like these freaks that the whole world knows as disclose...
Coming out of kochi city, japan - discharge's worshiping fanatics - disclose made a long time "career" (from 1992 to 2007) in disturbing some ears with their so fucking distorted guitars and their fuzzy sound in general...
I will not lie to you... I'm not the biggest disclose fan but i recommend this seveninch to anyone that wants to start listening to disclose (what i am talking about ha?) 'cos it's both raw and in your face, still passionate and intelligent (in it's own way)...
Though, typical dis-sound with war themes and apocalyptic lyrics / feeling, it has a little bit of magic this one...
Check the self titled track to understand what i mean... Hymn...
Almost, forgot it, this is a 1993 release

bombardment (download)

Dbill's tongue :

Now let's not kid ourselves...when you get a Disclose release you really know what to expect...pure noise D-Beat in the old Discharge way, but with the reverb, distortion and tremble turned up until the buttons on the amp fall off from overturning!!!

Indeed this 7'' serves as a good introduction to Disclose, though it's one of their most not-so-noisy releases. For an added ecleptical flavour of pure filth and muck maybe you should try the ''in chaos we trust'' ep dish as a starter, and for the main course the chef recommends the ''Nightmare or reality'' LP.....

I never was a huge Disclose fan, but.....fuck, this band really deserves to be heard by everyone (from the punx to my mother) at least once!!!!

Perth express - Self titled lp

Perth express was a hardcore band from germany, and was playing an unbelievable combination of hardcore, crust and metal. To make you understand it a little bit easier think that we have a mixer and we want to cook some "Perth express" vegan recipe... we'll take a lot of tragedy, a lot of his hero is gone, some metallic elements mainly in the production to make it heavy and solid as a fist, a little bit outta kylesa just for the fragrance and finally instead of (as)sa(u)lt, some mastodon (μη ξυνιζεις τη μουρη, μορε - i can't translate it... if anyone could...) for levant flavour.. hehehe... Have a nice appetite...
Now, that perth express disbanded a guy from them alongside some guys from trainwreck, etc. created the band Glasses (i'll post their first 12'' tomorrow first thing in the moning...)
And as fashionable activism blog wrote about them : Without any exaggeration I can say this is without a doubt one of the most powerful and memorable metal/hardcore records released in the last decade...

Black trinity - In this black thrashing night of infernal hell

As you can see i am a man of my words...
I promised black trinity and black trinity it is... (read also the previous post)
Black trinity are a "traditional" old-school black metal (or primitive black metal carnage) band and with the term traditional i mean all the influences that some crusties can get from the first two waves of the norwegian black metal... Clearly Darkthrone fans with the "transylvanian hunger" elements shining as the burning sun of a dry summer in kenya but also some more mid-tenpo parts to remind me a hybrid of "the cult is alive" and bathory's bathory (or not?)...
Add some satanic threat and darkthrone t-shirts and you have the picture...
Here you get their first full lenght release that comes as a cd(-r?)...
Check the bands blog for infos and stuff

total havoc

It certainly is not common to have black metal releases amongs the DIY punk movement (in the shithole pit of greece at least), let alone good ones!!!

(The) Black Trinity hail from the northern part of the (not so) infernal country of greece, from Thessaloniki to be more specific. They are four punks (fuck this whole corpse painting bullshit, and the whole ''I am evOl, but please don't kick my ass'' attitude most ''evol'' black metallers have these days!) and their sound is heavily influenced by the first (mostly) and second wave of norwegian black metal (a true university of its kind...). Think of early Darkthrone, but my ear picks up hints that remind of Leviathan (''Massive conspiracy against all life'' era) in the guitar, and some punky moments equivalent of the (also) punky black metallers Ravencult (also from the shithole pit of greece)...

This is pretty close to the roots of black metal, a path many bands have steared away from, either serving mostly polished orchistrical metal garbage, either copying the more modern Orthodox Black Metal style (not to be confused with orthodox christianity, as seen in shithole pit of greece)..though cheaply. The production is clearly raw, but very, very listenable, with the addition of some noise and some ambience here and there to strengthen the atmospheric feeling.

A promising new band (consisting members of Go Filth Go! and Dyspnea if I am not mistaken..both bands worth a listen, or more...), that gives a great live performance. You can get their DIY self-released record by contacting them through: theblacktrinity (a) yahoo.gr

Antimob, Uptight bastard, Black trinity, Go filth go - Live review

As i said in the previous post i was for three days in thessaloniki, and the main reason was to see antimob and uptight bastard(s) to destroy some serious live stages...
So, i packed my good friend ig. at my backbag and we started for this journey (through the dark). Thesal was a so called "igloo" or freezer with temperatures go down at zero celcious...
But, on saturday night some sweat was running around viologiko's stage...
As an "opening act' we saw black trinity (i'll post their first album tomorrow i think), a well-played old-school black metal wind surrounded us as long as black trinity was hitting the stage.. Fast "transylvanian hunger" parts alongside mid-paced katsa (or kaca) crust parts to explode our fucking minds... they played also a cover of bathory's "sacrifice"... No bullshit black metal attitude...
After that, my new personal favourite band antimob was ready to unleash the(ir) fury...
D-bill (yeah, right.. this blog's favourite man and vinyl judger also) took-off his shirt as always and i knew that a blast will come out the speakers... Manic drum hitting monster gave the leads to his other comrades... Old-school dog Stathis was vomiting his lungs out and the crowd started the erotic shaking... the sound was not so good with the guitars to be a little bit fuzzy but you can't have all the pie in this life... Drop virus has been also solid in his bass lines... they played also a cover of bathory's "sacrifice"... HEHEHE... coincidence?
Highlight : the drunken crush of the guitarist and respective owner of mountza fanzine(the love-handled drunkard with the beer belly and the guitar is a mountza shareholder, not owner (as he likes to think.HEHEHE... cheers, P.) on d-bill's drumkit... HEHEHe...
Third in the row was (or were) Uptight bastard that by far was the best band of that night...
Totally drunk and speedy as hell managed to perform the ultimate live experience...
A tone of beer cans has been on their way to the band for at least 45 minutes and their bassist (well-known as president) fought all the time with the crowd, his ass was one fire (no-kidding) twice and drop virus painted him with a satanist cross on his head. and a lot of 666 on his body, hehehe... Their monolithic d-beat alongside crusty rock'n'roll made the work perfect and the crowd never stopped moshing, poging, and all the ings...
Last on the "bill" was DISCLOSE (or just their clones that will release an official cassete instead of vinyl... (oc)cult....)of greece (or kotzi city, tzapan), GO filth go that played almost an hour all the crazy noisy raw punk tunes of Closecore... They also played a cover of the best disclose track "once the war started" ...
g.f.g is the same band with black trinity except the drummer part (vocalist of terrorismo musical plays drums for them)
Once the gig ended we gathered our excausted bodies to drink some more beers and finally to get some sleep...
What a live concert... Cheers...

Sleeper cell - Lp and 7''

Sleeper cell was a hardcore punk band from boston, they're sound was the total DEATHREAT (what do you mean you don't know deathreat? yeah, the band after his hero is gone disbanded and before tragedy take form, yeah, with common members, yeah) worshipping manifesto. Here you get their discography (that partners in crime records released on a cd format lately). An awesome Lp and two (more) awesome 7'' (all self titled's. hehehe)..My favourite song is "how to buy an iron lung", a party feeling track to flert some beautiful girls (just kidding)...
Killing recording that make the band sounds so fucking pissed-off, also catchy melodies and political lyrics...
Some people also say that the japanese and scandi mix is also very clear but i can't hear them, just DEATHREAT for me...
The band contains Balance of Terror members (i think Milosz was palying for Filth of Mankind and now he is on Morne)...
you can't be wrong, mates...

Dbill's thoughts :
I was familiar with the name Sleeper Cell, but had never come across their music before...
What we have here is speedy hardcore/punk played with bitterness and anxiety. It has a more urgent feeling that most hardcore bands, maybe because of the socio-political lyrics (thats always a plus in my book)...

The core of their music is rocking riffs in 1 1/2 minute songs...Indeed as mike put it, they sound pretty similar to Deathreat, but since there was never a big scene of bands playing this style, that doesn't disturb you at all. Nice production on both the LP and the 7'', not too polished and raw enough to keep a noisefreak/Disclose fan for more than a minute to their tunes.

Worth the buy, I would be interested in learning what these guys are singing about, just from the neat song titles...good stuff!!

Selfish - Burning sensation

As you can imagine i love the third, fourth and fifth wave of japanese played hardcore punk... (HEHE)
Selfish are the pioneers of the second wave (HEHEHEHE) of this style and their playing their fucking socks out (greek expression), so you can download right now the second best album (that is better than their third best album) of their discography after "cause pain"... (that will be posted soon enough)
Also check this for a previous post...
Fast hardcore / punk full of great riffs and ear damaging vocals in the japanese way alongside beautiful drum "changes". The sound is classic melodic and thrashy hardcore with desperate, angry lyrics about life and death.
I don't know what else to say... BRILLIANT!!!

reach the end (download)

''How will you reach the end?''...apparently with this record in hand, you are promised a free pass to hardcore hell...guaranteed!!!

This is Selfish's first LP strike (after three 7'', an equal number of 7''splits with DOOM, LIBERATE and DISCLOSE and the collection CD ''flashback!''), and my, what a strike it is!!
Filled with pure hardcore rocking fury, japanese warcries and epic (not the worn out crusty epicness) guitar leads, this record is going to be your daily soundtrack for the moody mornings, as well as the long party nights...Seriously this record packs my day with the nerve and eye sparkle I need to get up and do stuff.

Get it (or download it...whatever turns you on!)

Crude - Change everything from in to you first

-my partner dbill:

CRUDE ''1999'':
My first introduction to CRUDE was on a Sunday morning, after a hard-working Saturday night (and I don't mean partying the ''hard way'', i really was working...), so with approximatelly 3 hours of sleep I woke up to the awesome, raging sounds of the ''attitude'' LP, spinned by beloved flatmate George Sk. (of notorious Mountza fanzine fame!)...
Needless to say, I sprung out of bed like a well-tuned WP suspention on a wild Husaberg FE650 hitting a big triple jump!!! I poured me some coffee, and we had about 3-4 straight listens to the LP...
You know a band is THAT good when you order the LP your flatmate has on the spot!!!
''1999'' is just as good as the 2000 ''attitude'' LP, some say even better...I personaly save a slightly warmer place in my (not so) cold cold heart for the ''attitude'' one, maybe because of the afformentioned story!
Expect hardcore punk the japanese way, ''burning spirits'' style rocking energy, a hell of a lot of beautifull guitar work, and a powerfull, sturby rhythm section filled with neat melodic bass lines....masterpiece!!!
The records have been repressed (thankfully!) by the kind mr. Yannick of FERAL WARD recs....I'm pretty sure you can lure him into giving you a free press if you mail him a dozen fresh baclavas (I SAID FRESH!!!)... you can always pay for them though!!!!
Be inspired by the powerhouse called CRUDE....

A new kind of progress

After taking serious (HEHEHE, just kidding) thinking alongside the all time favourite and official beloved of this blog, drummer of antimob and bassist / vocalist of schwartz and anger  (their interview in mountza 4 zine is amazing... laughs, laughs, laughs) D-fucking-BILL i decided to let him "judge" every new post that i'll make...
This will hapen easily... i will make a post, then dbill will listen it and will send me his critique about the post via email, and i will repost it... so, you will get the knowledge of the perfect boxing drummer of the world....

Death token - "4 track attack" & "Walking dead life" 7''

As i have promised, here you get two 7'' from these terrific hardcore freaks outta denmark...
Death token (see previous posts here) delivers one of the most true, angry and passionate hardcore / punk. Their vocals are deep (very deep) in the shit with a lot of reverb alongside heavy distorted guittars, fast drums and noisy production (recorded in a 4 track and the production was made by the band)...
In the "walking dead life" 7'' the sound is a little bit more catchy punkish and ear-friendly...
GREAT BAND!!!!

War coma - 5 track demo

Some weeks ago when i read the post about hammers in crust demos i was wondering if the other bands that members of hammers also playing are as good as hammers, so i asked mr. 7inchcrust if he can post war coma's demo... Unfortunately, he didn't had it...
But, with the collaboration of the great hammers i finally have it in my own hands...
War coma are from manchester, uk and share members with hammers...
So, d-beat crust with some melodic "neo" crust guittars with angry vocals, not screaming, not brutal. The recording is not so good but they'll release a split some day soon and i hope that is gonna be "rocking"...
Some of their words : "Today ‘Manchester’ is an international brand designed to attract students and tourists, young professionals and enterprises, footballers and musicians with big ambitions. Punk has become part of this branding exercise. Allegedly, it was a sex pistols gig in June 1976 that kick-started the Manchester music scene. And thanks to them, a grey, impoverished, post-industrial wasteland was transformed into the hip and hedonistic second city of Britain... (...)
War Coma : They are just as active as Hammers in terms of gigging, and comparable in sound. Their guitars, however, are more melodic and create a tense atmosphere located somewhere between belligerence and melancholy. War Coma have just released a five-track demo that could have been a ‘proper’ record. It comes in a self-made box assembled out of recycled cardboard, is sold at gigs and costs less than a pint..."

Tommorow - Nuovo punto di partenza

Tommorow is a hardcore band from japan...
My informations about this band are more or less nothing...
Tommorow plays angry hardcore punk in the old italian way, the negazione / wretched influences are clear enough i think, plus some swedish hardcore just for the flavour... also, they have a lot of backing vocals and clever-catchy solo parts...
Imagine it : japanese guitars, japanese bass, japanese drums, japanese vocals with italian lyrics playing italian hardcore... just fucking great....
here you get their discography, 18 tracks from demos, splits, comps...

Container crusties from hell

After taking the kind permission of rawter (trouble on your system) i decided to post this great but not so "well-known" band...
But first let me tell you a story... Some years back alt t.c made a split lp with the french band 20 minutes de chaos. When the split was finally out they arranged a mini-tour in greece. 4 gigs in 4 cities was scheduled...
20 minutes... came and was a total destruction, but alongside them have come and some friends of them...
in their first night in greece and in front of 10 men and women in a small studio in corfu these friends of 20 minutes took the instruments and played one of the most aggresive crustcore ever to be seen, ever to be named...
Their name was CONTAINER CRUSTIES FROM HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here you got a cassete tape that they had released as a banefit for "food not bombs"....
Let's go to the music part : fast and aggressive, yet mean and unstoppable hardcore / crust (even grind sometimes) with male / female vocals that screaming and yelling, some mid-paced and "dancing" parts before power-violence assaults all in the mix, all in a good measure...
Almost forgot it, this band is from dijon, france and has been created in a squat in dijon...
rawter, thanx again...

Frigora - self titled 7''

I don't know much about this band...
They come from japan to deliver several tracks of scandi-hardcore / crust...
In the vein of mob-47 and anti-cimex plus some raw noisy japanese punk by these sweden's worshippers...
I know that they have a split with diskonto (get it here) and that's it...
HEY! they have some tracks (and lyrics) in swedish... Fucking weirdo freaks...

download

P.S. i'm going to upload the discography of TOMORROW (italian influeced hardcore from japan...HEHEHE), so stay tuned

Selfish - Cry for love, cry for death

In the so-called "japanese hardcore" genre you can add a tone or maybe more of good or not so good bands, but only a few can be named as great...
One of these bands is not even by japan...
Selfish took form back in 1989 in the snow-falling land of Finland, heavy influenced by the uk punk in their first releases (they have released a bunch of records, splits etc),but slowly they changed their sound with a lot of "burning spirit" japanese hardcore elements alongside heavy 70's hard rock parts...
Here you get one of the most "japcore" albums (for me it's as good as "cause pain" lp)...
Enjoy

Yuppiecrusher & Snifter - Split 7''

Here we have a split 7" from sweden (the first (it's the second, what a liar i am...) and probably the last post for the overestimated hardcore / crust scene of sweden - i'm just kidding but it's a little bit overestimated, don't you think?)...
First(ly), we have Yuppiecrusher...90's style mid-paced hardcore (or crust) with a lot of fast parts...
Secondly : SNIFTER is a noisy very fast d-beat crust / core band with the 90's "fresh" air recording (HEHEHE)with political lyrics and double vocals...
A must have split.... enough said i think...
(if anyone has anything else from Snifter (or an other great swedish band called ENS) please contact me)

Flyblown - Fear and the fury

FLYBLOWN was a crustcore band from uk that was active from 2004 to 2007, they had released a demo, a split with disclose and two lp's...
The political intent and their extreme music style made Flyblown one of the best crust bands of the 00's..
Heav(il)y influeced by the early scandi-crust scene they had created a  mix of d-beat in the vein of anti-cimex, mob-47 alongside the noisy parts of bands like confuse, disclose and the metallic production and feeling of bands like skitsystem or martyrdom... I can hear some extinction of mankind influences (in the mid-tempo parts mostly) and even more, some clear-vocals reminds me crucifix...
All the above mentioned bands can guarantee the quality of this lp (2005 release)..
So, enjoy this d-beat crustcore , heavy and distorted as it should be

Frammenti - L' apesso 10"

I'm very happy 'cos in the short time of the existence of this blog different people from different parts of this world are visiting it more and more often, leave comments etc...
A couple of days ago a guy from torino, italy send me an email with some links for a great band called Frammenti. He send me their discography but i have heard only this amazing 10'' (that i have it on vinyl and has so beautiful drawings, inserts etc) so i will post only this...
thanx to dany from torino....

Frammenti is a hardcore punk band from torino (or turin), italy and were active from the mid til' the late 90's..
they had released a bunch of things that i'll post someday. Here we have the 10'' called "L' apesso", 11 tracks of melodic hardcore, heavy influeced from the early italian hardcore scene with double sweet vocals, catchy and beautiful guitar riffs and "marching" hard-hitting drums with one cover of Negazione plus two tracks from the compilation new days rising (a very good comp with bands like cojoba, attentat sonore etc)...
The track "La ballata del pinelli" is a "free-cover" of the well-known italian song about the murder of the anarchist pinelli from the italian police (dario fo has also created a threatical play for this state murder)
Hope you'll enjoy it...

Quello che ho

Crude - Attitude

Crude comes out of hakodate city, japan and is one of the best japcore bands nowadays...
They play a total disasterous music mix of raging hardcore and old-school japanese hardcore in your fucking face...
Alongside paintbox, forward, burial (germany) and selfish (finland) holds the japcore flag (to stand) high...
Here you get their lp "attitude" from 2000 and it's maybe the best album on the whole genre, full of great epic riffs and powerful drums. It has been recently re-released by feral ward records...
i don't know what else to say for this terrific "burning-spirit" japunk / hardcore style album...
You know what to do...

Death token - Funeral music for the k-town hardcore

Second post for these danish punks (and i have ready another one that i will post it in the future...)
Death token comes out of copenhagen (i'm not sure, if anyone knows please correct me), denmark and delivers 10 track attack full of little things and moments that made them beloved...
Noisy hardcore punk, with this rock(ish) feeling just for the flavour (listen the riffs and solos - 70's thing), a little bit faster than mid-paced and a much bid slower than fastcore, death token it's the perfect example of how hardcore should be played nowadays...
Raw and noisy, recorded in a 4-channel studio and the guys made the production by themselves...
You may not like the sound with the first listening but gets sweeter and sweater with every listening....
Someone of these guys also runs spild af vinyl records

Rubbish heap - self titled LP

YES... after a while i'm very glad to finally been able to post this monstrosity...
Rubbish heap comes out of belgium to deliver 9 tracks of raging hardcore / CRUST /sludgy core...
Let me be more specific... a solid hard-hitting machine with heavy sludgy distorted bass, some "blessed are the sick" riffage and an open hell for mouth is the combination of the previously mentioned fellaaaaasssss...
One of my best bands ever, this one, with my favourite type of vocals... neither screamo(ing), nor gorish brutal, but angry and a little bit "rotten" (if you get me)...
Lyrics are bitter and mean about the fucking human race and the destroy of our sickening lives... check the first track opening words : "Swallow the torches, of our dying culture, passed on by generations of greedy liars and choke on the fumes..again and again, again and again... (...) five stiches for each eye, kill the impulse never ever wonder why...." ..
Two guys from rubbish heap runs the conspiracy records (back in the day conspiracy used to be d.i.y with great hardcore releases, unfortunately now releasing the europe versions of bands like knut and isis).
Rubbish heap have released also a split 7'' with upset and the ultimate 7'' "path of lies" and i'm looking for some links, guys... hope, that you will not forget me...
Did i mention that i have this release on a vinyl format and on a cd format too and i'm not willing to trade it?

Rid the world - "a collection of songs to beat the shit out of your friends" demo

Rid the world comes out of cleveland, ohio and what a coincidence : they share members with fucking crusties masakari...
This demo is a 8 track assault to anyone, anything and anytime...
8 tracks of raging hardcore punk (or clevo-violence as the band likes to say) with the INFEST ghost to be somewhere in these tracks and laughing for the legacy that has left behind and the new sickossss that took form...
Sometimes hardcore and sometimes power-violence this band hurts anything in their way and as they say : "come to our shows and hurt each other" (what a spirit... hah)
Voted best looking band in cleveland for second time (in a row) so, here you get the "raging beauty"

Hammers - Self titled 7''

As i promised yesterday here's the post about hammers...
Hammers hails outta manchester, uk and it's a part of a not so long-time, but large enough hardcore scene that exists in manchester (and it's growing bigger and bigger)...
Here you get their self titled 7'' that was released a year or so ago by the band (if you see it buy it at first sight 'cos the packaging fucking rules...)...
Hammers recorded 12 tracks for their demo "first year" and this 7'' has the six of them...
Speaking about music, hammers haunt me a long time now with their mid and at the same time angry vocals, their fast melodic crust (or dark hardcore to be more specific) with catchy-stacked-in-the-head riffs and fast drumming alongside solid bass lines...
Don't even think about it...

download

P.S. this post goes to sacha (hammers)... i'm still waiting my lp's dude....

Masakari - Eden compromised 7''

Masakari is an ancient japanese weapon used by some monk-warriors...
Also, masakari is a fucking fist into your face...
Probably the best 7'' that is still spinning my turntable after 6 months (alongside Hammers 7'' that will be posted here tomorrow)...
A fine mix of catchy and even melodic crust with some japanese influences just for the sickening sickness of it...
They also share members with hellkite and rid the world (their demo will be posted here tomorrow also)...
You can check also 7inchcrust (this 7'' has been posted there a long time ago...)
A must-have release for endless sing-along back-up screams to make your neighbors to jump out of their windows...
the band also has a blog,,,
Fucking awesome, perfect, terrific, beautiful...

Mind & Distress - split 7''

When i was a little kid (14-15 years old) a cousin of mine gave me a cassette-comp gift... some great 7'' from some great bands (battle of disarm, detestation etc), but i have been stacked with a split 7''... this one!
So, you can say that i have a long-time connection with these two bands...
First of all, we have Mind from germany that totally kicks-ass with raging crust, clever guitar riffs and grawling / brutal vocals with a merciless bombardment ("you can call me drums")... Secondly, Distress (not the russians) from the netherlands play hardcore / crust in the old way, some solos here and there with a chainsaw for guitar...

Full of dark memories

P.S. i have stolen this rip from the great am i mean? blog... cheers, mr.benedickt
P.S.2 : also dedicated to m.argo

Here we go : Short fuse is hardcore band from germany, well-known for their live appearances and their tendency to make people have (hardcore) fun...
Here you get their self titled lp and their 7'' fruitless efforts..
Raging hardcore punk featuring the singer of highscore...

P.S. I can't understand why no-one downloads highscore... It's a shame...

Toamol - Tragedy of a mind once lost

After a long time of searching for this double seveninch , a sweet human being contact me via comments and then via email and finally send me this wonderful hardcore masterpiece called "Tragedy of a mind once lost"...
So, this post goes to michael and i feel i can't express my gratitude to him...
Thanx, man! A lot...

So, here we have one of the best bands that came outta norway the last few (or maybe not so few) years alongside I.O.U (guys, i'm still looking for their releases... help), Summon the crows, Alltid jaget etc
Toamol has ex-members of Kort process and Alltid jaget (and maybe a few more) so you can understand the music quality...
They play a mix of  fast, violent and angry hardcore with some melodic hardcore parts just for the flavour (don't think metalcore bullshits, please!!!) with angry and sometimes brutal vocals...
This band is a steam-roller, listen the total fucking destruction (not the band)

Tragedy of an ear once damaged

Second post in the genre "fuck-your-hardrive"..
Here we have AVO (Apprehended Violence Order) from sydney, australia.

I decided to post two releases from this great band (that has been posted again in trouble....), "domestic violence..." lp from 2008 and "Fuck positive hardcore" (the soundtrack of our lives i guess) 7'' from 1999...
Angry, pissed-off, fast, negative and in-your-face hardcore....
This 7'' is one of the most fucking 7'' i have heard lately..
Check out some titles : "you're a fucking prick", "love is shit", "hated and proud" etc...
All together 29 tracks of raging hardcorepunk....
enough said... enjoy....

Death Token & Kyklooppien Sukupuutto - split7'

after a tough night (my hard drive has been damaged and i'll probably lose 100+giga of music) ithought that i must make a post that will reflect my inner feelings and anger... Some tunes to scream FUCKKKKKKKK!!!!! and because i was promised north european assaults (i was thinking to post two death tokken's 7'' at once - that i'll do in the futaaaaaa) i'll give you some music to beat someharddrive's the shit outtaaaa it...
A killer split by two killer bands...
Death token are a death marching army from denmark..the usual angry (with reverb) vocals, fast music, blah blah blah... they also have released 4 7'' and a full lenght (that will be posted here someday soon)...
Kyklooppien Sukupuutto (what a name!i tried to write it and i made 4 mistakes..fuck) comes from finland (tampere i think) and they had released one full lenght for sure... Old-school finnish hardcore at it's best...
Enjoy... and leave comments... (thanx to dbill once again for introducing me to these bands)

Forward - "act then decide" & "what are you gonna get" 7'' ep's

Forward hails from the land of the rising (terror) sun and is the perfect example of awesome "burning spirit" hardcore...Angry vocals alongside solid bass lines and drum hitting hymns...
Forward features members of Death side (even Bastard i think), paintbox and Judgement...
Here we have two 7'' :
"Act then decide", the ultimate soundtrack to make someone to love "japcore"... and...
"what are you gonna get" that is another punch in the face...
Also, in the near future i'll post "burn down the corrupted justice" and maybe "forward to death"...
Enjoy....

Negative approach - Total recall

Here we have the total destructive masterpiece..
Way ahead of their time negative approach (from detroit, michigan) was the band that left a huge footprint in hardcore punk scene  for ever...
Angry vocals, pissed-off and totally nihilistic music and lyrics.
Songs that you want to hear again and again and again...to sing along and fight with your own clothes...
They unfortunately released only the : "tied down" lp and "self titled" 7'', that was later released both in one lp under the name "total recall"...
Negative approach's vocalist John Brannon later formed Laughing hyenas, Pitbull and Easy action..

If you approach = negative for a life-time!!!

(i think i'll make a break from the posts for a couple of days, but the future posting plans
has japanese nightmares and north european assaults)

Battalion of saints - Fighting boys ep & Second coming lp

San diego's Battalion of saints is a band at least underestimated...
With a lot of member changes they had accomplished some big tours alongside dead kennedys etc (back in the day)...and established their name as a good, fast, political west coast hardcore punk band..
Here we have :
First ep "Fighting boys"
and full lenght "second coming"
Words are words so listen for yourself and leave me some comments...

enjoy

Circle jerks - Group sex

After a pause for a re-upload, let's go "forward to past" with another great band :
Circle Jerks. This bands hails out of hermosa beach, california and we can say that they are among the bands that created the so-called "hardcore-punk" in usa...one member was playing with black flag and an other member made bad religion (not bad at all)..
Here you got their first (and maybe their best lp) "group sex", so enjoy
(some black flag influences are very clear i think...)

download

P.S. we have 3 more posts for the god-damn us hardcore (d-bill's)
series that will be "up" all three tomorrow morning...

Antimob & Burial - split 7'' (re-uploaded)

I'm reposting Antimob & Burial split ep here with better quality and with song titles
If you have the courage download it again...sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry...

A new split...
Antimob from athens contributes two tracks of fast well-played hardcore. Taking influences from japanese hardcore (check out the guitars and vocals) they manage to create their best tracks (till now). Lyrics on greek but i can't understand a thing hahahahahhahah. Heavy political hardcore with tons of killer riffs and bass-lines solid as fuck.Plus the great work dbill has done in drums. Great pal. (check out their cassette here)...
Burial is the ultimate japcore band from germany (much better than japanese bands), here delivers one track of uncompromising hardcore full of fast drums and great chop-off cuts. Guitars played in the old-school way (rockish style) while the vocals are reverbly great. This track was recorded in the "Speed at night" session. Run for your fucking life.
i think antimob wins in this split (hails to d-bill for this)
I feel a little bid weird to upload this cos is very very new release so go to hardware records and buy it cos it's worth everyfucking cent.
Best 7'' of the year so...

Also, here's the translations from the insert of this 7'', i'm posting it to make you know what the hell they're talking about :

H ora ths lyssas = Rabid time : "a song about the impending revolution of the exploited masses who live under a constant state of fear and insecurity. Rabid consciences to all of us"

Fili apo formolh = Kiss drenched in formaldehyde : "on the 23/12/2008 union worker konstantina kouneva was attacked with vitriolic acid, which she was forced to drink by capitalist thugs because of her fight for decent working conditions. This is for konstantina k."

Dance with the POGO-WOLVES!!!! (or mediafire)

P.S. check also antimob's self titled 7''  (7inchcrust)

Ill repute - Oxnard_land of no toilets & What happens then

Ill repute is an awesome, fucking pissed-off hardcore band with angry vocals and very good recording (notice that we are at 1981)..
They come from oxnard, california and we can say that Ill repute is the pioneers of "nardcore" (hardcore punk movement out of south california)
Here you get the 7'' "land of no toilets" and the remastered "what happens next" (What happens then is the title of the remastered cd)...
I copy-pasted from wikipedia :
Their record What Happens Next? holds high status in many hardcore circles. It is notable for its cover of the 1970s pop music hit cherokee nation, an anomaly for hardcore punk bands of the era.

Deep wound - discography

Deep wound was a hardcore band from Westfield, MA.
They released only one 7'' ep called "deep wound" (very original,.ΗΑΗΑ),
and contributed two songs to the compilation LP, Bands That Could Be God.
They had released the tracks from this 7'' also as a split with Siege (great band).
The drummers from the above mentioned bands are responsible for the so-called "blast-beat" term.
Here you get the Discography LP compiling the 1982 demo, s/t 7” and the tracks from Bands That Could Be God...

Zero boys - Vicious circle

The Zero Boys are a hardcore punk quartet from indianapolis, indiana..
In 1982, they released their first (full lenght) album Vicious circle that with their first release,
the ep "livin in the 80's" has established them as a very ass-kicking hardcore band!
Many punks expressed surprise that a band like the Zero Boys originated in the Midwest, their polished intensity suggested the larger and more established scenes in Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York City and elsewhere.
The intelligent, ambitious lyrics of "Vicious Circle" tackled such themes as social stratification, teen angst, and political corruption!
These themes, set into a blazing, sonic buzzsaw with huge choruses and intricate changeups, set an influential stylistic precedent for hardcore punk which still resonates today.
This release we can say is more hardcore than punk in comparison with their other releases that's more in the Ramones punkrock vein

SSD - The kids will have their say

SSD (Society System Decontrol) was a hardcore band from boston.they formed in the early 80's and here you can download their debut album "the kids will have their say" with the song "boiling point" that was the second most sing-alongish straight edge hymn after minor threat's ''straight edge''...
The band quickly gained notoriety within the local music scene for intense, charged performances and the provocative antics of their core group of followers, the Boston Crew!!!
Musically talking is a fast (for their time) hardcore band....

Download

P.S. i was thinking if i must post albums from minor threat,
       black flag, bad brains...
i finally choose not-to post those bands
'cos i think they are already "well-Known"...and...
their place goes to....deep wound, Die kreuzen and Jerry's kids
       Hope you agree...

A friendly request

A couple of days ago feta-eating, satan-influeced, bass-fart-player, hell-comes-home-voice, drums-destructor, party-animal, kick-boxing-fighter, spiritual-advisor and silly-handsome-face well-known as d-bill has send an e-mail asking me if i could do a post for the 80's us hardcore punk scene....
The following is in greek language :

"Pisteuw ena afierwmataki se palio amerik(l)aniko hardcorepunk einai aparaithto...(...)

Anyone who speaks greek can understand the intensity of d-bill's humour...
So, i will do this post 'cos i can't say no to the most handsome man in the universe...
7-8 posts will be posted about us hcpunk starting from tonight...
Stay tuned

Mind eraser - Cave & The prodigal son....

Mind Eraser is a hardcore band from Boston, MA
Slow breaks approach sludge and their faster parts look to grind your fucking head in.
This band is a totall  steam roller...
Here you'll get two releases :
"cave" lp that has more mid-paced parts (more dancing parts if you like) alongside fast grind / powerviolence explosions...and...
"the prodigal son brings death" ep that is like one-take rehearsal with great recording, it starts and it rips your fucking face and suddenly they're jammin' around....
A trully awesome band,
for fans of Crossed out, weekend nachos but even greater (for me!)
Did i mention that is a straight-edge band?

Destroy everyfuckingthing

E.T.A. - No faith & We're Not The Problem + The Racket EP

E.T.A.(Epileptic Terror Attack) was a thrashcore band from Umea, Sweden. The band shared one member with ds-13. After disbanding, the members went on to form regulations...

Judgement - 5 7'' ep's

Judgement is a Burning Spirit type hardcore punk band from Japan and have shared ex-members from such bands as Crück (Nori), Death Side (Muka-Chin), Bastard (Iizawa, Zigyaku and Tokurow) and Lipcream (JhaJha). The band has released five EPs.
Vocalists have changed through the band’s history. First singer Nori (from Crück) was on the first two EPs. On the 3rd EP Tokurow joined the band. After he left the band, Judgement recorded the Night Brings EP as a Trio. Later the singer of Lipcream Jhaja grabbed the mic. Also Iizawa decided to call it quits.

I copy-pasted the column above from lastfm and i think
that even me couldn't describe it bettaaaaa....
In a post about burial not a long ago i said :
Burial (germany) One of the best japcore bands alongside
paintbox and forward...
Hope that every single one visitor of this blog can forgive
me that i  forgot mention these spiritual-healing, ass-kicking,
japanese hardcore powerhouse

Here you get all of their five ep releases :
"Haunt in the dark"
"Just be"
"Night brings"
"No reason why"
"Process" (my personal favourite)

Feel the Judgement

Katiusha - rehearsal demo

Katiusha has borrowed their name from a russian artillery
that first used back in world war two.
Musically speaking Katiusha was (in this recording)
a 5-piece crustcore band with male / female vocals
out of athens, greece... (female vox was their ''strong'' point)
They played several gigs in athens, thessaloniki, kavala etc
Clearly influeced by bands like ratos de porao and state of fear
they have / had a sound like a stone that fell down in
some unsuspecting heads or you can just say :
monolithic d-beat crust. If they had better recording they
probably  had been equally mentioned as other ''famous''
crustcore bands

enjoy

P.S. i use all these ''past'' tenses 'cos now
they are 6 members with dual male vocals

P.S. thanx to their bassist for sharing this demo

Bombenalarm - No mistakes

Final post for the ''germans''
Bombenalarm is the definition of hardcore / punk
Example : when you hear the word hardcore what's the first
band that comes into mind? Ripcord!
and when you hear crust? Tragedy? i think so...
But when you hear hardcore / punk?
I guess you know the answer!
Bombenalarm (r.i.p) had two members of Burial (see the other posts about them here) and they released 2 albums, a split with Dean dirg and a 7''...
Here you get their last and best album ''no mistakes'', a combination
of mid-tempo angry hardcore punk with some fast parts here and there,
angry and terrific vocals and great lyrics...

Monster - death before disorder

German post numbaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 3

This is the special one..
I' ll tell you a not so short story
When i was young i had lost my energetic love for hardcore / crust!
like you are with the perfect woman and someday you feel bored
and it suxxx
and after a while something happens and you're again in melting love.
so simple...

Monster came in my life one rainy day of 2005.

they were playing alongside 925 and epithanatios rogxos...
and when the first tune came out i felt like a train
mutilating my helpless body...

This post is for good friend
Skliros lekes / Anapodos stauros
who also "loves" them
(dude, sorry i won't give you
my t-shirt)

MONSTER

P.S. i have one more post for "germans" :
Bombenalarm...if anyone thinks that i have to include
some other bands too, feel free to inform me

P.S. don't hesitate to post comments

P.S. in song "system of casts" the beautiful little flower
called Ajka (insuiciety) make backing vocals

Highscore - Unsuspecting actors in a bad soap opera

Well, Here's the german post part II

In this one we have : Highscore
Highscore was a band that started in 1997 and someday
like all the hardcore bands they..... disbanded
When they disbanded their singer made Short Fuse
(they will be posted here someday)
The importance of this band is the passionate ''hardcore'' lyrics
Fuck all the ''hardcore'' sell-outs

"I've got my shit together
At least i know where i belong
Found my place in this crazy world
It gives me strenght for going on"

The now denial - Obey, adapt, shut up and die

I decided to make a bunch of posts for the german hardcore / crust scene
First band is THE NOW DENIAL

now denial has released a bunch of albums and splits so it was a little bit difficult for me to
choose this one...
this is not a regular album but a compilation of tracks from splits with Highscore, seein' red, and of course
tracks from "the truth is on fire" and "viva viva threatening" lp's sessions (mainly demo versions)...

If you download it you'll get a catchy sing-alongish death machine somewhere between fast hardcore and mid-paced crust (if you have seen 'em live you know what i mean!!!!)

Shut up and fucking download

Antimob - Unconsious demo 2008

I'm posting this demo of the athens finest to settle the score with burial
These pogo-fighting, feta-eating, satan-worshiping friends deliver 7 tracks of gamato (fucking great) hardcore!
''In front of the machines'' is my personal favourite...

This demo has been posted in crustcracker blog not a long ago but....
here you can find also the titles of the songs and the songs are without laughs at the end of the tracks

check also their page

Get here their message to sellouts

Tear it up

Hail from new jersey, Tear it up is a well known pissed off, fast as hell, old-schooll hardcore band
here you'll get two releases in the price of one 'cos...no cos!
So we have : ''Taking you down with me'' and ''the december 2000 session''(includes the split with fast times and E.T.A. and ''zero to suicidal'' 7'')

Band members later formed Cut the shit, The rites, Splitting headache, forward to death, Guilt trip, Broken patterns, and The good book

Concrete sox - Silence 7''

I made this post 'cos i can't find ''silence'' in any other blog...

Uptight bastard - rehearsal demo

Yes, a new band worth of your attention..
Uptight bastard hails from athens, greece and plays a combination of d-beat axe hitting, jap grawling, guitar killing and bass breaking...Throw in the mix crust with 'n'roll attitude, a lot of booze and an unstoppable love for fights and you' ve got this monster

Don't be cruel, it's a rehearsal....

Dedicated to Iroooooo.HEHEHEHE

Bottle in the face

Sharpeville - At the late hours

After one day of hard-extracting work
i'm very happy to see that some guys is now followers(Shitword)

So the next posts is dedicated to them!
This one is for cherroky  'cos i think he likes finnish hardcore if i can judge from his other blogs
So, Sharpeville, a finnish hardcore band (if you digging for appendix, kaaos tunes this one is definitely not your cup of tea) with ass kicking recording and very passionate lyrics..
If you have it on lp you can see a very peacefull cover with autumn leaves blah blah blah, but if you open this gatefold you 'll see Dante's Inferno!!!!!!!
GREAT

November 13th - Stillstand_Weiter

November 13th is a neo-crust band out of germany.
These young punks have already released 3lp's and a couple of splits..
Imagine from ashes rise with ''german'' heavy crusty guitars, double grawling vocals and powerful drums
This is their second lp...awesome band...
they might remind you alpinist also but they are older as a band i think

Enjoy

Panopticon & Lake of blood - split

I don't no how to start this post..
This split has rip my mind off for at least one week
Here we have the ultimate panopticon(one-man band) and Lake of blood, a band that is more blackened rotten crust to my ears than black metal!

This post is a rip-off from the great red and anarchist black metal blog
so check that blog also
